Dear Families,
We have a busy week! It is Red Ribbon Week, the Bishop is coming to visit, Mass will be on Thursday, and we have our Halloween Carnival on Friday! On top of it all... we are still learning a lot in class! We are making iMovie's about saints in religion, finishing Hatchet in ELA and starting our chapter on Egypt in social studies. The kids are handling it very well. They are becoming more and more efficient and organized each week. In study skill today we discussed effective study habits and study areas at home. Ask your student about what they think about their "study area."

Things to Know:
- In honor of Red Ribbon Week, students may wear jeans and a red shirt tomorrow (Tuesday).
- On Wednesday, we are having a very special visit from our new Bishop. We will have an extended day. All students will be dismissed from the church approximately 3:20-3:30. Students should wear their dress uniform. All parents are invited to join us!!
- The 2nd Grade will be leading our All Saints Liturgy on Thursday at 8:00 am.. Dress uniform is required.
- The Halloween Carnival is on Friday, from 12:30-2:30. Students may wear their Halloween costume to school for the parade, but it must follow all school guidelines. Costumes must follow our free dress guidelines. Costumes must be respectful of other cultures, religions, politics, ethnicity, avoiding messages contrary to our beliefs (alcohol, drugs). Costumes may not be too tight, revealing, short, spaghetti straps, strapless, bare midriffs.
No weapons, plastic or otherwise
No blood, gore. - Please sign up to help with our class booths on Friday. We still have a couple of spots open.
- This is our last week of lunch duty. If you are unable to make it, please try and find a substitute.
- Since we are just about finished with Hatchet, it is time to get our next novel, The Lightning Thief, by Rick Riordan. You may already have a copy, but if not, here is my suggestion: ISBN-13: 978-0786838653. The students will need the book by Nov. 9th.
